Artist Practices: Karl Blossfeldt

Image
Artist Practices:  Karl  Blossfeldt  ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Images by Karl: Response to artists work: Karl takes detailed, close up pictures. I appreciate the fine detail im his pictures, and how he captures the details we do not always see with the human eye. By segregating the object with macro shots and simple backgrounds, in majority of his work, it brings out so much interpreted meaning.. even in a simple object. It creates a space for interpretation and discussion, especially when exploring the macro world. I love macro photography myself, and am practicing fine details like Karl's. It is beautiful work, with amazing contrast and small details.

PhotoMontage

PhotoMontage ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ For my photomontage, I used two images. One was of my best friend, Natalie, recording in studio. The other was of a  lensball , taken in my house, at my kitchen table. The image displayed through the lensball is a guitar. The image and description are shown below.  Image: Framing the Future Framing the Future is all about finding balance, your passion, and following your dreams. We often forget that we have options, choices, pathways to choose from. We do not have to live life defined in one way. Natalie and I are in the process of completely turning our worlds upside down, in a good way! The refraction the lensball displays that aspect of it.  This image comes from a place of pure inspiration and motivation to live a happier life - one that I have not always been living. I have had the pattern of living for others, not myself. ...

Seeing Through a Viewfinder

Seeing Through a Viewfinder: Sequence ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ For the sequence assignment, I grabbed a pair of boots, I took my camera, and went out for a walk. I had no real plan of what I wanted to capture. It had just snowed, and it was beautiful in the light. I wanted to create a sequence that spoke to that.  Image (top): SNOWY LOVE It had just snowed, and and the snow was so beautiful in the light. I wanted to create a sequence that captured what I saw. I am a creative at heart, always, and find meaning when no one else can. I am a conceptual artist, and this spoke to me that day. I was proud and happy it worked out, because it meant a lot in the moment.  It was quite sunny, mid day so I did not need to use as low of a shutter speed and I could use a smaller aperture (f11).
